Removing Hours and Minutes from Start and End Dates

This video is to help a System Administrator use the Culture & Interface Labels feature to remove the Hours and Minutes from the Start and End dates on the task list and reports. Please keep in mind this option removes the hours and minutes from being displayed but the system and database still store that data. If you always use full day Durations then it will have no effect but if your users do use Durations and Date Constraints that are not the start or end of the day, this option should not be used.

Welcome to Project Insight. Today, I'll be showing you how to use the Date Number and Currency Formatting add-on to remove the hours and minutes from the start and end dates on task lists and reports. This option only removes the hours and minutes from being displayed; however, the system and the database still store the data.

To begin, from the home screen, navigate to Add-ons and select the Date Number and Currency Formatting add-on. If you don't already have this add-on installed, you can install it by clicking on "Get More Add-ons." After installation, click on "Configure." Then, click on the workspace's Date Number and Currency Format Settings dropdown and select "Add a New Custom Format." We will call it "Remove Hours and Minutes." Click "Add."

If we view the formatting by default, you can see that for the Scheduled DateTime format, which is used by the task list, the default format includes the day of the week, the month, the day, the year, as well as the hours and minutes. Since we do not want these hours and minutes, you will need to copy the format "DDM MD YY." Click "OK."

Next, click "Configure," then "Advanced." Scroll down to the Schedule DateTime Format option and copy and paste the value from earlier. You will also need to copy this format into the Schedule DateTime Top of Hour. Once done, click "Save." To check that this worked, you can click on "View Formatting," and you will see that the hours and minutes have been removed from both the Scheduled DateTime format and the Scheduled DateTime Top of Hour.

To summarize, to remove hours and minutes from task lists and reports, navigate to your Add-ons page, go to the Date Number and Currency Formatting add-on, create a new configuration, and change the Scheduled DateTime format as well as the Scheduled DateTime Top of Hour format.
