The Project Insight for JIRA Integration allows tasks that are created or are uploaded as part of a project plan in Project Insight to be automatically added into JIRA and then synchronized. This allows Project Managers to conduct wide scale projects that will include work done by a team in JIRA without having to double enter the data

In this video, I'm going to demonstrate how to create a task in Project Insight and have it pushed into Jira automatically. So, take this project plan. This is a pretty sophisticated waterfall plan that was loaded into our tool, Project Insight. It might have been uploaded from our Microsoft Project import, or it could have just been constructed in the tool. You can see that I've already got this project loaded into Jira. The reason you might do this is if you're a PMO and you're running a project where maybe only some of your users are actually in Jira. If you have a pretty sophisticated multi-year plan that you need to communicate to your executives, you can use this Project Insight for Jira integration to keep track of your overall plan that involves everybody in the organization. Then, for your Jira users, you can partially send tasks over. In this example, I just sent all of them over, but you might use this to send a portion or a subset of your large project plan into Jira.
To do this, I'm going to insert a task. I'll type in, "After the business requirements are completed, we're going to send them for review. We will send them to the architecture team for review." We can specify what kind of effort we need; maybe this will take 10 days and an additional 10 hours of work. If we want, we can assign it to someone right out of the gate in Project Insight. You may want to hook it into predecessors. Let's say it happens after the previous task; I'll make this the next task right after that.
All I need to do is hit save, and that fires off the webhooks, so the task is now being created in Jira. If you check now, you can see that the task is mapped there. If you click on it, you'll see that it has an ID over in the Jira integration. If you click on it, there is the new task, and we can add a comment from here in Jira.
You can also update the status in Jira as well or modify the description. Anything you add here, if you click back, will take you right back into Project Insight with that new comment. If we add a comment here in Project Insight, all these fields get synchronized between the two systems. This integration helps PMOs who have a project with tasks being completed by people who don't necessarily use Jira, allowing you to avoid double entering everything.
