Using the Excel Template this video shows how to import multiple projects into PI at one time.
Transcript:
Hello and welcome.
So, you're looking to import projects using Microsoft Excel. First, you will need to navigate to the tool to do this. You can access the Project's home in two different ways. One way is on the home screen, where you will see a tile called "Projects." If you click on "Projects," it will take you to the project home. You can also access it using the drop-down menu and clicking on "Projects." One thing to keep in mind on the home screen is that this tile might not necessarily be in the same place; it could be anywhere on the page, as this is customizable by the user.
Once you are on the project home, you will see three dots. These three dots will only be visible to you if you are a PMO (Project Management Officer) or a system admin. If they are visible to you, then you can use our import feature. If they are not visible to you, you need to contact someone who is a PMO or a system admin to gain access.
Once you're in the import section, this is the screen you will see. Here, you can import a file if you already have one. You can also download our template, and you can watch this same video you are watching now. We highly recommend downloading our template and using it for the import.
If you already have your own file, you can download this template and use the headers from it. By that, I mean these are the headers you will want to copy and paste into your file. These are all the supported fields that we currently include in our import, plus custom fields. If you are using our custom fields, what you need to do is add the header as the name for the custom field and then plug in the required information for each project. Each line represents its own project, so you just need to fill them out across the board.
One thing to keep in mind is that some of these fields may not be used in your system. These are just all the fields we currently support for the import, so if you're not using them, you can simply ignore them.
Once you are ready to import, you will choose the file and hit upload. After the upload is complete, you will be taken back to the project home, and your upload will be complete.
