The Project Insight for JIRA integration allows time entries to be added by resources in JIRA and automatically added onto the time card in Project Insight for approval, or to be combined with other time tracking activities
Transcript:
In this video, I am going to demonstrate the time tracking capabilities of the Project Insight for Jira integration. What we have here is a project that is mapped in Project Insight to a project in Jira. You can tell that the project is mapped by this links column, which is an optional column in our tool that you can show. This is the link to Jira.
This integration pulls in the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) from Jira automatically. The integration is bi-directional, meaning a task created in Jira can come into Project Insight and vice versa. However, in this demo, I am going to show the time tracking features.
Here, we have a task titled "Upgrade Server." I can click on it and see who is assigned, how much progress has been made so far, and comments that have been made in Jira, which show up here and vice versa. At the very bottom, you can see the previous time entries that have been brought in from Jira over time. These can then be submitted on a timesheet, combined with other time entry activities, and routed for approval.
If I want to navigate over to that task in Jira, I can click on this link, which takes me right into the task in Jira. You can see it’s assigned to Dylan, and there is an attachment along with the comments there.
To update the logged time entry, you just go in and say "Time Logged." I'm going to add two more hours spent here. You can also include a description here; for example, I worked on software development, let's just say. When you hit the save button, that information is logged in Jira, but it is also logged in Project Insight. I can navigate right back to that task here, and now you can see I have ten hours. I just added those two extra hours, and they’re showing down here with the description supplied as well.
Project Insight just added that time in this video right here. So, that gets rolled up into all of the time and will appear on the grid. There are the two hours I just entered there, so far for this week today. This combines with any other time tracking that might be going on, whether it's in Jira or outside of Jira, because Project Insight has a full time tracking capability with timesheets and time submission. Many of our clients use this to keep track of time in Jira as well as capacity and time outside of Jira. But that’s the basics of the time entry capture in Project Insight for Jira.
