In this video, I'm going to show you how to use Excel to upload list values into a custom combo box. The technique can be used with any kind of list input, such as a checkbox list, a radio button list, a regular drop-down list, or a combo box multi-selector.
Here I am on my project custom fields. I have already pre-created a custom combo box. I'm going to choose "Edit," and you can see here under list values, I don't have any yet. If I choose "Upload" from the "Update from Excel" option, you can then select the "Get Template" button, which will let you download a blank template that you can fill in to create these custom fields or inputs. In my case, I already have the fields done, so I'm going to choose "Select." You can drag it on here, or if you select, I'm going to select and pick my Excel file, and it gets uploaded. Right now, it's actually processing, as I have a very large file here. It will take a couple of seconds, but once that is over, you'll see this populated.
It populates those values, and you can see there are many inputs here. Then, you simply hit "Save," and those values are now stored in the database. You can use this technique to maintain larger lists for project and site custom fields.
