In this video, I'm going to show you how to add a receipt as an expense entry to a project using the Project Insight mobile app from the expenses screen.
You'll start by choosing "Add Expense Entry," then selecting "Receipt." Here, you can either take a new photo or use one of your existing photos. I will take a brand new photo now. Use your camera to take a picture of the receipt.
If you can see the numbers on the receipt clearly, select "Use Photo." Project Insight will then upload that photo and determine the amount of the receipt. You'll see that we have an automatic recognition of the amount. Next, you can choose the date of the receipt. The OCR will automatically find that out as well, whether it's relevant to you or not. For this one, I used my personal credit card.
Then, you can select the company and project or task that this expense is associated with. You can also choose the correct time code or expense code. These codes are configurable by you in your own system. Hit "Continue," and the upload will complete.
If I return to my expense list, you can see that the amount has now changed. I have $842 from two different receipts that are part of my next expense report. From this screen, if you want to submit an expense report, simply choose "Submit Expense Report." You can submit the $48 now, and you will see that there is a brand new pending expense report for $48.42.
If I want to view it, I can see the two receipts for the project I was working on. This expense report is now automatically routed to your manager for approval.
