Hello, today we're going to talk about how to post a new feature request in Project Insight. Perhaps you are a super user, an administrator, or just someone who has found something that they find particularly helpful. This could be a good feature or a different way to solve something in the application. You can bring that up to our design development team.
The best way to start is to go to the projectinsight.com website. From there, you can click on Resources and navigate to the Help Center. In the Help and Support Center, you can also look through self-help resources, community groups, personalized support options, the link to our free office hours webinar each week, and other self-help resources. For now, we'll just go to self-help resources.
You will find the Getting Started Guide, video tutorials, and our community. However, the one we are focusing on today is requesting a feature. You can go ahead and click on "Request a Feature." Our recommendation is that rather than starting a new request, it's better to search for one that is similar to yours or fairly close. The more people that can contribute to one feature request and refine it together, the more comments and votes it will receive. This increases the likelihood that it will be added to our development calendar. If everyone puts in their individual requests, it becomes harder for those to be prioritized because they may only have input from one person.
From here, take a look around. Perhaps you would like to make a feature request about the task list. In that case, you might hit search and then click on Feature Requests. You can look through the different requests that people have submitted concerning the task list. If you recognize one that is similar, you can click on it to explore a bit further. You could add some comments—this one may be a bit sparse—but you could provide more details about what you'd like to see, follow this request to track how it goes, or even vote it up or down.
If you do not find something that you'd like to vote on or follow, and instead you would like to create a new feature request, you can do so from the Feature Request page by clicking on "New Feature." You can then give it a subject line and be very specific about what you are after, including details about where this occurs in the system and possibly even some screenshots. Provide all the specifics of what you'd like to see changed and click on where you would like that to be categorized—"Feature Request" is the best option—and hit submit.
Once you've submitted that request, you can follow it by clicking on your picture and selecting "My Activities." This will show you "My Requests" in the Activity Center. It will display posts you've made in the community, as well as requests that you are following.
If we go back to the community, just to show you one more thing, below the feature requests, you can see all of the most recent requests that have been made. You might like to spend some time looking through what other people are asking to be added. You may want to make some votes if you totally agree or if you feel it's something that everyone can work on together as a terrific idea. You can even sort these by the ones with the most votes or the ones with the most comments.
For example, someone suggested using work hours remaining to calculate resource loading, and that suggestion was completed. It received 14 votes and six comments, so our team prioritized it, and it has been executed. Perhaps your request could be one of those.
Definitely consider following other requests, making extra comments, or voting for other features. If you would like to prioritize your request or expedite it, please reach out to your Project Insight representative, who can discuss any fees or development costs that might be involved in prioritizing a request like that. Thank you very much.
