In this video, I'm going to show you how to swap a resource in a project in a bulk way. To get here, when you're in a project, click on "Resources" and choose "Project Resources." This takes you to the resources screen. From here, you can add more people to the project. This list gets populated automatically when you assign tasks to people, but this is a way for you to formally add people to your project.
In this case, I have a user, John Smith, and I just added him as a project manager on the project. This person has no tasks. I also have two placeholders here, one for Accounting and one for Admin, and I want to replace all of the Accounting tasks and assign them to John. So I'm going to choose John, as he is the person I want to give the tasks to. I will then check the box in the Admin column.
Next, you can choose Admin. These are the tasks I'm trying to find. Hit "Search," and you will be presented with a list of tasks that the Admin person has to do. In this case, I just want them all. You can see there's a long list here, and you can selectively choose them, but I'm just going to choose all. Then, I'm going to save it off, and that will basically replace the Admin tasks with Accounting tasks. Now, the Admin has zero tasks, and John has all those tasks assigned to him.
So that’s how you do it. Again, this is from the Resources tab inside a project. Choose "Resources," then select the person that you want to give the tasks to. By going here, you can find the tasks that you want to assign to that person. Another way to do this is to say you only want to assign certain things, or you may wish to filter by a specific resource type or role. You can even specify a certain date range for the tasks. But that’s the tool that will do this for you.
