On the time entry grid, you can enable a setting which allows for a single number to be entered for the day on tasks, projects and work items. Or you can have a more advanced mode which allows multiple time entries per day. The video shows the differences in these settings

In this video, I am going to explain the difference between enabling single entry per day, turning it on and off, in the options of the time entry grid. You will see an option here to enable single entry per day. When this is on, it means that a whole number can be entered, like this: if it was already four, I can change it to five, or I can make it six. I just change the number there, and that is what the time entry for that day will be. If I want to clear it, I can simply clear it, and then that whole entry is gone.
When single entry per day is not on, you will see a whole number here, but when you click into it, the number disappears, and you enter the next amount. So, if you entered another hour on this task, then you would put in another hour, and now it's five. If I add two more hours, now it's seven. This creates many different entries and allows you to have a different description and a different time code. This is how you would have more granular or detailed control of the time entry grid.
The user can choose between different modes. By default, it should be on, meaning that single entry per day is the simpler way. In the time entry default grid settings, you can actually force single entry per day for all users and make this the global default so that nobody can change it. You can enable it on with this option off, allowing the user to decide how they want to use the time entry grid, or you can set it so that everyone has to do single entry per day by choosing this option.
So, that's what this option does. It allows you to have a simpler experience for the time entry grid with enable single entry per day or a more advanced experience by allowing you to enter every entry you do every time you come back and add more to the time entry grid. This gives you more control.
