Short video explains how to change the work schedule in a project to work on the weekends and on the weekdays.
Transcript:
In this video, I'm going to show you how to create a project that works on both weekdays and weekends. To do this, you'll choose the add-ons and go to the Work Schedules add-on, which is at the bottom of the list. If you don't have it installed, you'll want to use the "Get More Add-ons" option to install it.
Select "Configure," and then I'm going to add a new work schedule called "Weekends." Hit enter and then click on the weekends option. I want this work schedule to inherit from the default, so I'm going to check that box. This means I'm going to get all the holidays from the default work schedule for the entire system.
Next, click on the default workdays. It is already inheriting the hours of 8 to 5, with a break from 12 to 1. Now, I'm going to say that I want to work on Saturday and Sunday, so now I'm actually managing a whole seven-day-a-week schedule. Just save it, and now that I've saved that, I have a work schedule that will allow tasks to be scheduled on the weekends.
Now, I can go to my projects. Let's say this construction project requires weekend work. You can go to "Edit" and then choose "Edit Work Schedule" to change this particular project’s work schedule to "Weekends." Then, choose "Recalculate." Now you can see that all days are active here; we will be working every day of the week.
If I go back to my task list, tasks are ending on Saturday or Sunday, just as they would have otherwise. This project happens to be mostly done, but you'll see that instead of skipping over Saturday, these tasks are scheduled for every possible day. If you want to change it back, you can simply go back to "Edit Work Schedule" and change it to use the default work schedule. Now I have the days off again.
It's that simple to create a new work schedule that allows for workdays on weekends and other workdays as well. You don't have to follow the exact configuration I showed you; you can set up work schedules that operate at different hours of the day, have different lengths, and specify different days off.
