Add a set of tasks from a template to your existing project when
- You use a series of tasks over and over
- There is a scope change to your project
- You add the same section multiple times to your project (e.g. two set of development tasks, one set for the web app and one set for the mobile app)
How do I do this?
- From your project's task list, mouse over the Add Task icon, select "Add from Template"
Quick Tip: If you add tasks from a template when you create a project, mouse over the project add form's Save button and select Save & Add Tasks from Template - On the next screen, select the template you want to add tasks from
- Next, select the template's summary task you would like to add. This will add all the tasks in the summary (i.e. the summary and all child tasks) to your project
Quick Tip: If you want the entire project template, don't select a summary task at all - Now, select the summary section in your project where the new tasks will go inside
Quick Tip: If you want the new tasks at your project's top level, don't select a summary task at all - # of Copies: Enter the number of copies you need of this group of tasks
- The default is one (1)
- If you want multiple sets of the template sections, enter that number
- Prefix Text: this prefix will be added to EVERY task added to your project
- It is usually only used when there is one copy
- If there are > 1 copies, see the "Customize Copied Details" below
- Suffix Text: this suffix will be added to EVERY task added to your project
- It is usually only used when there is one copy
- If there are > 1 copies, see the "Customize Copied Details" below
- Multiply Duration: This is only used if your project is more complicated and requires more duration for EVERY task
- E.g. The duration on a task in the template is set to a standard amount of time to get the task done, say 2 days.
- Add a duration multiplier of 1.5
- Upon save, the task's duration will be changed to 3 days (1.5 times the original duration)
- Multiply Work: This is only used if your project is more complicated and requires more work hours for EVERY task
- E.g. The work hours on a task in the template are set to a standard amount of effort to get the task done, say 20 hours
- Add a work multiplier of 1.5
- Upon save, the task's work hours will be changed to 30 hours (1.5 times the original work effort)
- Customize Copied Details: This link will appear at the bottom of the page only if you entered in > 1 copies in the # of Copies box (see above)
- Click this link and enter in the all that apply for each copy:
- Prefix
- Suffix
- Multiply Duration

- Click this link and enter in the all that apply for each copy:
