How to Deploy the Project Insight Microsoft 365 Outlook App to Your Azure Entra Tenant

Overview and prerequisites

A Microsoft 365 administrator can deploy the Project Insight for Outlook add-in to every Entra user in the tenant from the Microsoft 365 admin center. Once deployed, the add-in appears in Outlook for the assigned users, and nobody has to install it themselves. The add-in lets users save emails into Project Insight as tasks, issues, or files.

Before you start, confirm the following:

• You can sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center as an administrator who can deploy Integrated apps and grant tenant-wide consent, such as a Global Administrator.
• The users who will receive the add-in have Exchange Online mailboxes.
• You know who should receive it: all users, or a specific group. To pilot first, assign it to a small group and expand later.
• If you assign by group, use a group whose members are users directly. Nested groups are not reliably supported for add-in assignment.

Deploy the add-in

The deployment takes eight steps in the Microsoft 365 admin center and finishes in a few minutes.

Step 1: Open Integrated apps and choose Get apps

In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings > Integrated apps, then click Get apps above the list of deployed apps.

Step 2: Find Project Insight for Outlook

In the AppSource window, search for Project Insight. Choose Project Insight for Outlook and click Get it now. Do not choose the Project Insight app, which is the Microsoft Teams app.

Step 3: Confirm to continue

In the Confirm to continue dialog, click Get it now. This lets Microsoft share your account information with Project Insight and confirms you accept the provider's terms of use and privacy policy.

Step 4: Choose who gets the add-in

In the Deploy New App panel, choose one of the following under Assign users, then click Next:

• Just me deploys it to your own account only, which is useful for testing.
• All users deploys the add-in to everyone in the tenant.
• Specific users or groups deploys it to the users or groups you search for and select. The example below assigns it to a group named Active Employees.

Step 5: Start the permissions request

Step 6: Grant consent for your organization

A Microsoft sign-in window opens with a Permissions requested prompt for Project Insight Graph, published by Project Insight. Review the list and click Accept. If nothing opens, allow pop-ups for the admin center in your browser.

Step 7: Confirm the permissions were accepted

Back in the panel, a green Permissions accepted status appears next to the add-in. Click Next.

Step 8: Review and finish

Check the app name and the assigned users on the Review and finish deployment page, then click Finish deployment.
