In this video, I'm going to show you how to manage your users in Project Insight and how to add a user from the admin panel. You can click on the "Users" tab, and you will see a list of users that are in the system.
If you would like to edit their roles, you can simply click under the "User Roles" column and check the boxes for the various roles that a user will have. These roles are dynamic and depend on whichever add-ons you have installed. Some systems will only have the "System Administrator" role. Depending on your add-ons, you will see more or fewer options here.
You can then edit that user by simply clicking the "Edit" button. This will take you to the full add/edit screen for your users. Again, the roles are listed here with some more detail. These are the preferences for that user, including their time zone and resource information, such as their default burden and bill rate. If you are doing time tracking, you can set what their default percent allocation will be when you assign tasks to them.
These options are found under the "Resource Info" section. There are other videos that provide more details, and you can choose a background color or select an avatar for that user, or upload a picture. Each team member can do this on their own as well. So, this is how you would add or edit a user. If I hit cancel, I will be taken back to the previous screen.
Another quick tip here is that if you're an admin, you can actually impersonate one of your users to see what they see. You can also clone a user, which creates a brand new user based on the settings of a different user. Additionally, you can reassign tasks to that user, so if someone leaves your company, you can use the "Reassign Task" option to globally reassign tasks across all projects in the system for that user. It's really handy, and you can also resend the welcome email.
In this particular screen, if you want to get more details, you can click on a user's name, which will show you a card with their data on it. There is also an advanced option where you can choose from many more columns. This is a more detailed list and you can also export your user list from here. This view provides various filtering options, group-by options, and column options on the advanced user management tab. When you're done with that, you can simply go back to the default view, which is a little easier to navigate.
There is also a search interface here to search for your users, so there are quite comprehensive tools available to manage your team members.
