Overview
Sometimes you have an issue that is large enough to warrant an entire project to remedy. Even though you need a new project, you don't really want the project it was found on (project affiliation) to change or the issue to move its location. To solve this dilemma, you can create a Resolution Project from the issue. A resolution project is a separate project that is run independently from the project the issue was discovered on.
Okay, that sounds great. How do I do that?
- Go to your issue
- In the Issue Details section, click on [Create Project] under the "Resolution Project" label
- The following items will be transferred from the issue to the project on create
- The issue name & # become the project name in this manner "Issue Name: Issue #"
- The issue description becomes the project description
- The issue's project affiliation company will become the project's company
- If you are using rate cards, the issue's project affiliation rate card will become the project's company - Select a project template if needed
TIP: Instead of selecting a template, you can use the [Save & Add Tasks from Template] option explained below - Select a Sponsor and Type
- The status will be set to the default project status (typically the first one on the list)
- [Save]
The issue's Resolution Project is now set to your new project
The resolution project's issue view will also show the issue
[Save & Add Tasks from Template] Option
Sometimes you need to add multiple sections of a template into your new project. Instead of selecting a template when you're adding your project, mouse over the [Save] button and select [Save & Add Tasks from a Template]
Follow the steps in the "Adding Tasks from Template" article
