How to Fix Slowness in Folder Section

If you are experiencing a slowness in PI it could be in relation to your Folder structure in the left navigation. To check if this is the issue, go to your Folder section and see if it has a lot of Folders and Sub-folders opened upon logging in. My example below is minimal but there are many instances where the Folder trees are HUNDREDS of items long causing the system to have to load all of those items time and time again.

PI Evaluation 

• Does the Folder tree keep going and going? 
• When you edit the Item Propreties of the Folder, is the following box checked? 

To fix this issue, uncheck that box to "Automatically Set Display in Navigation On for new Child Folder & Items." This might be a little time consuming to do for every Folder (or at least the ones with a large amount of items) but it will be worth speeding up the system.
