Projects & Task Configuration in the Administration section, is where the most commonly used options for projects are set so they don't have to be set for each individual project. This saves time, enforces process and ensures consistency.
There is also a tab to set default options for tasks. See Task Default Settings for more information.
Accessing Projects & Task Configuration
Only System Administrators can change the Projects & Task Configuration.

How Project Default Options Work
Most of the settings on this form are defaults only and can be changed on an individual project basis as required. See Project Options for setting/changing project-level settings on a project-by-project basis.
These settings are applied automatically to new projects except where you create a project from a template. If a project is created from a template, then the settings from the template are used instead of these defaults.
Apply to All Projects
Some of the options on the form have an Apply to All Projects check box.
If you change these settings and there are already existing projects, the settings on those projects won't be effected by the changes unless you click on the "Apply to all projects" check box that's available. Checking this will change settings for all projects in the Active, Planning and Template state. Note it will over-ride any options set individually on those projects so use caution when checking this option.
Project Views Menu
The Project Views Menu options enable and disable views on projects. For example if you disabled the Task List view it would no longer show up in your views on any project.
The Edit Project Fields option enables you to enable fields and select if they are required, for example if the color field was enabled and was made required any user filling out a project form would have to select a color for the project.
Intelligent Scheduling
- Enables Intelligent Scheduling (Predecessors, Duration, Work and % Allocation Capabilities): Enables Intelligent Scheduling for projects
Work Effort Input Options
- Enables work hours to be input for tasks (recommended): Without this option checked tasks cannot be associated with work hours.
- Enable Work optionally entered as 'HH:mm' (instead of decimal) tasks and some report views: Changes the default decimal formatting of work hours to 'HH:mm' format
- Enables the (Agile) option for the original estimate of the task work hours to be captured: Allows the original effort estimated to be input into the task
- Enables the (Agile) option for the user to input work hours remaining on a task. (Task recalculates work hours based on remaining plus actual time entries): Allows the estimated hours remaining to be input into a task
- Enables Story Points (Agile/Scrum) to be used for estimating effort: Allows story points to be used in estimating the remaining effort on a task
- Enables T-Shirt Sizes (Agile/Scrum) to be used for estimating effort & duration: Allows t-shirt sizes to be used in estimating the remaining effort on a task
- Enable Value Points (Agile/Scrum) to be used for estimating customer/sponsor value on tasks by default on new projects/templates: Allows value points to be used by default when estimating customer/sponsor value on new projects/templates.
Work Adjustment Rules for Multiple Resources on a Task
- Add Additional Assignee - Default Work Adjustment: The default work adjustment behavior when additional assignees are added to a task
- Remove Assignee - Default Work Adjustment: The default work adjustment behavior when assignees are removed from a task
- Multiple Assignee, Total Work Adjusted - Default: Work adjustment made when total work is changed on a task with multiple assignees
Resource Management on Projects & Tasks

Allow Project Managers to Add Resources: Enable Project Managers the ability to add resources to projects they manage
- Note: If unchecked, only "Resource Manager" users will be allowed to add resources to projects
- Allow Project Schedulers to Edit Project Details: Enables project schedulers to edit the projects they are assigned
- Allow Project Schedulers to Edit Project Configurations: Enables project schedulers to edit the project configurations of the projects they are assigned
- Limit Task User Assignment to Project Resources: When on the user list presented on the Task form, resources will be limited to people who are resources on the this project
- Limit Issue User Assignment to Project Resources: When on the user list presented on the Issue form, resources will be limited to people who are resources on the this project
- Limit To-Do User Assignment to Project Resources: When on the user list presented on the To-Do form, resources will be limited to people who are resources on the this project
- Limit Comment User Mentions to Project Resources: When on the user list presented for comment mentioning, resources will be limited to people who are resources on the this project
- Enable Tasks to inherit Project Priority: Tasks automatically will inherit the Priority of the when a specific value is not set on the task
- Use the resource's personal work calendar when adding resources to the project (NOT recommended): Resources calendar will be used instead of the system calendar when adding resources
Status Report Views
- Enable Visible on Status Report Option for Tasks & Work Items: Enables an option to include tasks, issues, and risks on the project status reports
Project Close Options
- All project tasks must be completed to archive a project: If this option is enabled a project is unable to be archived unless all tasks
- All project items (issues, proposals, etc) must be closed to archive a project: If this option is enabled all items on a project must be closed before the project is archived
- Enable changes to the project and tasks after closing/archiving a project: If this option is enabled a project and its tasks will be changeable after the project is closed
- Enables Closing Proposals On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled proposals associated with a project being archived will automatically be closed when the project is archived
- Enables Closing Risks On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled risks associated with a project being archived will automatically be closed when the project is archived
- Enables Closing Issues On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled issues associated with a project being archived will automatically be closed when the project is archived
- Enables Closing Decisions On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled decisions associated with a project being archived will automatically be closed when the project is archived
- Enables Closing Actions On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled actions associated with a project being archived will automatically be closed when the project is archived
- Enables Closing Meeting Minutes On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled meeting minutes associated with a project being archived will automatically be closed when the project is archived
- Enables Complete Tasks On Project Archiving: If this option is enabled tasks associated with a project being archived will automatically be completed when the project is archived
Project Delete Options
- Disable Project Delete When Time Or Expense Entries Exist: If enabled a project will not be able to be deleted if Time/Expense entries are associated with it
- Enable Option to Delete Unsubmitted Time and Expense Entries when Deleting a Project: With this option enabled unsubmitted time/expense entries associated with a project will be deleted when the project is deleted
Summary Task Options
- Show all of the related items of parent Summary Tasks on the Task display form of child tasks: If checked will show summary task work expense items on the display form of summary task child tasks
- Show all of the attachments of child tasks on the Task display form of parent Summary Tasks: If checked will show summary task work expense items on the display form of summary task child tasks
- Show all of the descriptions of parent Summary Tasks on the Task display form of child tasks: If checked will show summary task work expense items on the display form of summary task child tasks
- Show all of the Work Expense items of parent Summary Tasks on the Task display form of child tasks: If checked will show summary task work expense items on the display form of summary task child tasks
Miscellaneous Options
- Enable multiple companies affiliated to a project: Enables multiple companies to be associated with a single project
- Enable Companies to be Applied to Tasks (not recommended): Enables companies to be applied as a column on a Task
- Enable Legacy Project Add/Edit Form: Enables the legacy project add/edit form to be used in the system
- Enable Legacy Project Status Page: Enables the legacy project status page to be used in the system
- Enable Legacy Project Documents: Enables the legacy project documents to be used in the system
- Enable Linking Items: Enables projects to be linked to other items
Saving the Settings
Click Save to save your settings and update any existing projects (if you clicked Apply to all Projects). Note* Clicking Save will also save any changes that were made on the Default Task Options tab.
