The PI Project Request is extremely useful for teams that need to better manage their project lifecycle. In the life of a Project, this is the incubator state!
- Create Project Requests as an internal or external user to kick-off potential projects
- Assign Project Requests to a team member to manage/route it for approval and convert into an Active Project
Creating a Project Request
Start by adding the Project Request from your Dashboard option or directly from inside of a Folder.
Your default required fields are Name and Parent Item
- Parent Item will delagate where your Project Request will be located. This option will appear unless you are already in a Folder when you add the Project Request.
- The rest of the fields are details for when the Request is converted into a Project, such as Project Template, Type, and Project Managers.
Managing the Project Request
Create a Project directly from the Request form, this seamless transition will take the data you've specified in the Project Request and convert it into an Active Project.
Create Approval Request from the Request form adds an additional step in the project lifecycle. This is useful for teams who use Approval Workflows and Requests.
After the Project Request
Teams often change the State to Closed after creating an Active Project from it, however you can choose to keep the Project Request for future use in a depository - such as a Project Request Folder.
Reporting on Project Requests
When you use Project Requests enough, reporting and gaining a high level visibility on them will become increasingly valuable. Use the PI Project Request Reporting form to help here.
