How to Set Up and Use the Cross Project Dependencies Add-On
Welcome to Project Insight! This article will guide you through the process of setting up and using the Cross Project Dependencies add-on.
Installing the Add-On
To begin, navigate to the Add-Ons page. Look for the Cross Project Dependencies add-on. If you do not already have this add-on installed, you can install it by clicking on Get More Add-Ons.
Linking Projects
Next, navigate to your projects page. In this example, we will link two projects: Cross Project Dependencies Project One and Cross Project Dependencies Project Two.
In this scenario, Project One has the first task, and Project Two has the second task. We want the second task to have the first task as its predecessor.
Setting a Predecessor Task
To set this up:
- Navigate to the project of the successor task, which is Cross Project Dependencies Project Two.
- In the top right corner, click the Edit icon.
- Click on Cross Project Dependencies.
- Select the project that the predecessor task belongs to (in this case, Project One). You can select multiple projects if you have more tasks or want one task to have multiple predecessors from different projects.
- Click Add.
- When you are finished, click Done.
Selecting the Predecessor Task
After you have added the project, go to the Predecessors section under the second task. Select the project that the predecessor comes from (Cross Project Dependencies Project One) and then select the predecessor task (the First Task).
Finally, click Save Task.
Conclusion
Now, the second task will reflect that it has Cross Project Dependencies Project One and its predecessor in the dependencies list. That’s all you need to know to effectively use the Cross Project Dependencies add-on in Project Insight!
