The Comment Report shows comments added to items in Project Insight. You can use it to review comment activity for a single project, multiple projects, or an entire portfolio.
The report can help you find specific discussions, review the history of comments, identify comments written by particular users, and see which project items are receiving updates.
For more information about adding and reviewing comments on individual items, see the Item Comments Tab.
Open the Comment Report
- Open the Reports menu.
- Select the Comment Report.
- Choose the date range, keywords, comment types, users, projects, and columns you want to include.
- Click Run Report.
Choose a date range
Use the date range filter to control which comments are included based on when they were added.
All dates
All Dates includes comments regardless of date. Use this option carefully when your system contains a large number of comments, because the report may take longer to generate.

Dynamic dates
Dynamic Dates provides preset date ranges that update automatically, such as the current week, current month, last month, or next year.
For example, a saved report using Current Month will always return comments from the current calendar month whenever the report is run.

Specific dates
Specific Dates lets you enter a fixed start date and end date. Those exact dates remain in place when the report is saved and run again.
Search comments by keyword
Use the Keywords filter to return comments containing specific words or phrases.
This is useful when you need to find comments related to a decision, issue, customer, deliverable, or other topic.

For example, you may want to review only comments added to tasks, projects, or other selected records.

Use the user filters to find comments based on the person associated with the activity.
Depending on the available filter, you may be able to report by:
- The author who added the comment
- The resource who created the item containing the comment

Filter comments by project
Use the project filters to narrow the report to specific projects or groups of projects.
Available options may include:
- Project type
- Project status
- Project name
- Project number
- Resource type
The exact options available may vary based on your configuration and report settings.

Group and sort the results
Use the Group By and sorting options to organize the report by one or more columns.
You can group records into sections, sort them in ascending or descending order, and add multiple levels of grouping or sorting.
For example, you could group comments by project and then sort them by comment date.

Choose the report columns
Use the column selection options to control which fields appear in the report. You can add, remove, and arrange columns based on the comment information you need to review.
For more information about selecting and arranging columns, see Page Display Options.
Run and refine the report
After selecting your filters and columns, click Run Report. You can return to the report options, change the filters, and run the report again until the results show the comment activity you need.
Save, share, chart, or schedule the report
After creating the report, you can use Project Insight's reporting tools to save it for future use, share it with other users, create charts, or schedule it for email delivery.
