Accounting or ERP Integration with Project Insight
Many Project Insight customers want to pass valuable project, task, time and expense information from our project software into their ERP or accounting system. In many cases, customers want to pass information from their accounting or ERP system into Project Insight. We can integrate with any enterprise solution. Many popular data exchange points include:
Popular systems that we have integrated with Project Insight include:
For example:
1. Using Project Insight’s invoicing feature, you may aggregate all approved time and expenses onto an invoice or multiple invoices per customer. These invoices may be readily exported out to Excel and/or QuickBooks with just a few mouse clicks.
If your accounting/ERP software accepts .csv, .xls, or .iif imports, then a zero dollar cost option is to manually export from Project Insight and import into your accounting/ERP system on a regular basis.
2. If you would like a more automated integration, then Project Insight’s Professional Services team can work with your internal IT team. Together we determine which Project Insight data fields to pass to the ERP and in what format. Using Project Insight’s invoicing feature, you can create an invoice from approved time and expense entries. An automated process “checks” for new invoices at predetermined time intervals, converts the invoices to the proper format, and passes new invoices to the accounting/ERP system’s import or data acceptance mechanism.
3. If your process requires more automation, but does not require invoices be generated in Project Insight, a third option is to have any approved time and expense entries passed automatically over to the accounting/ERP system. Project Insight’s Professional Services team can work with your internal IT team to determine which of the Project Insight data fields to pass to the ERP and the format needed, and where the data formatting will take place. With this method, an automated process “checks” for new approved time and/or expense entries at predetermined time intervals, converts the approved time and/or expense entries to the proper format, and passes new approved time and/or expense entries to the accounting/ERP system’s import or data acceptance mechanism.
4. If your internal programmers understand .NET, you can purchase the Project Insight Web Services APIs and Software Development Kit (SDK) to perform your own integration. We strongly recommend using the Project Insight Web Services APIs for all integration work as opposed to accessing the SQL data tables directly. Web Services dramatically shortens the time to generate the integration.
5. You may also opt for a completely custom integration which adds additional fields, custom fields, as well as a bi-directional integration.
