Bulk Edit on Tasks Won't Always Change Task Start and End Dates

A question was recently asked regarding a bulk edit to task start and end dates. Not all of the dates changed. This is due to exceptions made in the edit process which prevent unintended consequences and should be avoided using bulk edit. It won't override all rules for task schedules and the results may be few or no changes to the tasks.

For example, a bulk edit to a start and end date for all tasks would have to eliminate all previously saved constraints and reset them to a "must start on" date so that predecessor rules no longer apply. It would also have to reset the duration to match the start and end date for every task. Both of those changes could be very time-consuming to fix on a large task list because the tasks were not likely all the same duration beforehand.

This is not to say that it will never be allowed. For now its changes are limited so as to prevent changes that may not make sense and cause more work to repair. Why would you want to force new dates on a lot of tasks which were designed in advance to maintain intelligent scheduling rules?
