Hi! In this video, we'll talk about the Project Assignment Board in Project Insight. The Assignment Board is another available project view in NPI. We have so many project views, and the Assignment Board focuses on reassigning tasks to the resources that you have in the project. Similar to the status board, you can use the filter option to gain sophisticated control over what you see in the Assignment Board. You can decide which users or departments to view, look at resource types for users, and sort just those assignments on the Assignment Board, or you can choose to see all assignments.
You can add placeholder resources, and you can decide to view only the projects that are starting or tasks due in a certain number of days. If you want to include additional projects, you are not limited to just one; you can add several projects to reassign resources across them. You can group by certain projects and display specific task levels. There are many sophisticated options available in the Assignment Board, allowing you to tailor it to your organization’s needs. This feature is very helpful for project managers, especially in the early stages of a project when they begin to assign previously unassigned tasks.
You will also note that there is a resources menu. If you take a look at the Assignment Board, all the resources are listed at the top of the columns, referring to the different resources involved in the project. This particular project happens to have quite a few resources, and then you will see all of those resources listed with their own columns for assignments across the top of the Assignment Board.
I’m going to move over to the middle section where there are more tasks. In this combined board, you’ll notice similarities to the planning and status boards, where you have the task name, as well as the start and end dates. However, on the Assignment Board, you won’t see the resource name on these task cards. That’s because each column is meant for each resource. In fact, you can move these task assignments to different resources simply by dragging and dropping them into different columns.
In this example, let’s move the task for customer admin training from Emily to Kendall. Now we can go back to the task list view to see the results. You can see that customer admin training has been moved, and Kendall is now the new resource assigned to that particular task.
For more information about other project views across Project Insight, please look for their individual documentation for each of their pages or their videos. That’s it for the Project Assignment Board in Project Insight. We hope this guide helps you make the most of this powerful tool!
