In this video, we will talk about the Project Assignment Board in Project Insight. The Assignment Board is another available project view in Project Insight. We have so many project views available. The Assignment Board focuses on reassigning tasks to the resources that you have in the project. Similar to the Status Board, you can use the filter option to gain some sophisticated control over what you see in the Assignment Board.
You can decide which users or departments to look at, as well as filter by resource types for users and sort just those assignments on the Assignment Board, or you can see all of them. You can add placeholder resources, and you can choose to only see the projects that are starting or tasks that are due in a certain number of days. If you want to include additional projects—not just one—you can add quite a few projects where you can reassign resources across multiple projects. You can group by certain projects and display by certain task levels. There are so many sophisticated options here in the Assignment Board that really let you tailor this view to the way you'd like to see it for your organization. It's very helpful for Project Managers, especially in the beginning stages of a project where they need to assign tasks that are unassigned at the start.
You will also note that there is a resources menu. If you take a look at the Assignment Board, all of the resources are listed at the top of the columns, referring to the different resources involved in this project. This project happens to have quite a few resources, and you will see all of those resources listed with their own column for assignments across the top of the Assignment Board.
I am going to move over to the middle, where there are more tasks. In this combined board, you will notice similarities to the planning and Status Board, where you have the task name as well as the start and end dates. However, on the Assignment Board, you won't see the resource name on these task cards. That's because each column is meant for a specific resource. In fact, you can move these task assignments to different resources simply by dragging and dropping them to different columns. For example, let’s move the task for customer admin training over from Emily to Kendall.
Now we can go back to the task list view to see our results. Now you can see that customer admin training has been moved, and Kendall is the new resource assigned to that particular task.
