Item Containers

An item container is the immediate parent of any item in Project Insight.

Here are a few item container types:

• Projects
• Folders
• Files
• Custom Items

The Item Container is represented by a GUID in Project Insight. Click on a folder (for example) to view its GUID in the URL. In your browsers address bar, the query parameter 'id' represents the GUID of the folder.

You can use this GUID when creating new items within Project Insight to tell the new item where to go. All items have a GUID in PI, so if you click to view a project (Task List), you'll also notice that query parameter is 'id' and represents the Guid for the project.
