The group feature in Project Insight allows for system administrators to configure users into groups of users. One user can belong to an unlimited number of groups. For more information on using and assigning groups, see the Groups article.
Group Functions
There are three primary purposes for groups starting with permissions. If permissions are not in use by your organization, you may find other useful reasons to set up groups by reviewing the following three most common purposes.
- Permissions
- To ensure Folders are only viewed by the desired users you can edit the Folder and correct the permissions to the group. Managing group members automatically controls access without having to change folder permissions, making groups the most preferred method for permission management.
- Notifications
- In Notification Settings you are able to select an Entity Type named Group. Members of the group are all part of the configured alert for sending email, instant messages and online notifications.
- Report Sharing
- Saving Reports allows you to share the report to others. Rather than picking name by name, you can place users into groups, and share the report to the group. New hire? Add them to the group and they have access to all necessary reports.
